Digital or paper queue numbers?
The best choice depends on your visitors, connectivity, and whether people need to leave the queue area while waiting.
- A mobile queue reduces standing in line
- Paper queue numbers do not require a phone
- A fallback improves reliability
When does a digital queue work well?
It suits situations where most visitors have a phone and benefit from moving around while they wait.
When is paper better?
Paper numbers or a staff-managed list may be better when connectivity is unreliable or many visitors do not use smartphones.
Combine both when needed
Staff can add a visitor to the queue without the visitor’s own phone. If the queue is essential to the event, also plan a procedure for network outages.
Notifications and connectivity
The queue page updates through an internet connection. Browser notifications need a supported browser and the visitor’s permission. On iPhone and iPad, add the service to the Home Screen to use notifications. Agree how visitors will hear their turn if a notification does not arrive or connectivity fails.
Plan a fallback
Test mobile connectivity at the actual service point. A shared display can show called numbers; keep paper numbers or a staff list available as a fallback. Do not use the service where a delay or outage could endanger safety or health.
