A queue system for pop-ups and retail
Let customers join by QR code and continue shopping or wait elsewhere until their turn begins.
- Quick setup
- No ticket machine
- Turn notifications
Illustrative example
A pop-up service counter
One queue directs visitors to a fitting or advice point. Name the queue after the service point and explain where called visitors should go. Create separate queues for distinct services so visitors know what each number is for.
Manage busy periods
Create a queue only for the busiest period or use the same workflow repeatedly for customer service.
Customers are not tied to a line
Queue status stays visible on their phones, so they can move around the shop while waiting.
For demonstrations and launches
Call several customers at once when multiple service points or demonstrators are available.
Divide the staff responsibilities
Open the private management link only on staff devices. Agree who calls the next visitor and who marks service complete. The same queue updates for everyone using that link; there are no separate staff accounts.
What visitors do
Visitors open the QR code or joining link, take a number, and follow their turn on the same page. No name or contact details are requested. Staff can add someone without a phone from the management view and give them their number verbally or on paper.
Notifications and connectivity
The queue page updates through an internet connection. Browser notifications need a supported browser and the visitor’s permission. On iPhone and iPad, add the service to the Home Screen to use notifications. Agree how visitors will hear their turn if a notification does not arrive or connectivity fails.
Plan a fallback
Test mobile connectivity at the actual service point. A shared display can show called numbers; keep paper numbers or a staff list available as a fallback. Do not use the service where a delay or outage could endanger safety or health.
Before opening the queue
- Create a test queue and join from a second device.
- Choose one stage for service or two stages for ordering and collection.
- Display the public QR code clearly; keep the management link with staff.
- Agree who calls, completes service, and helps visitors.
- Check connectivity and the fallback procedure before opening.
Frequently asked questions
Does the shop need a separate display?
No. Print the QR code as a poster or show it on an existing screen.
Can I keep using the same QR code?
Yes. The same queue and QR code keep working when successful queue actions occur less than 30 days apart. Joining, calling, completing service, cancelling, and closing or reopening start a new period. Viewing a page does not extend it. Links stop working once the queue is deleted.
Can someone join without their own phone?
Yes. Staff can add a visitor from the management view and tell them their number. Agree how those visitors will hear their call.
Will every visitor receive a notification?
No. Browser notifications depend on the browser, permission, and connectivity. The queue page shows the current status while connected.
How long is a queue kept?
Queues are deleted after 30 days without queue activity. Joining, adding, calling, completing, removing, moving or undoing a ticket, cancelling a visit, and closing or reopening the queue start a new 30-day period. Simply viewing a page does not extend it.
